What are orthodontic plates?

Orthodontic plates are removable devices for bite correction and tooth alignment, suitable for children and adolescents during the early stages of dentofacial system development. They gently influence the teeth and jaws, promoting correct growth and bite formation, while not restricting the patient in daily life. The plates are removable, which facilitates oral hygiene and has almost no impact on appearance during treatment.

Plates effectively allow for solving problems of incorrect bite, crowding, or spaces between teeth by correcting jaw development in children.

Noticeable rotation, incorrect inclination, or uneven growth of a child's first permanent teeth

Overly crowded teeth or, conversely, the appearance of noticeable gaps (diastemas) due to a deficit or excess of space in the jaw

Improper closure of the front teeth (for example, the upper teeth completely overlap the lower ones, or there is a gap between them)

These symptoms indicate the first signs of deformation of the dentofacial system, which can be easily corrected with orthodontic plates during the child's active growth period (from 6 to 12 years old), preventing complex and lengthy treatment with braces in the future.

Reasons for malocclusion

Genetics: hereditary shape or size of the jaws inherited from parents.

Mouth breathing: due to adenoids or chronic rhinitis, which leads to narrowing of the upper jaw.
Early loss of primary teeth: adjacent teeth shift and block space for permanent ones.
Delayed tooth replacement: when a primary tooth does not fall out in time and the permanent one grows crookedly next to it.
Infantile swallowing: a child’s habit of pushing the tongue against the front teeth while swallowing.
Soft food: a lack of solid food in the diet, which prevents the jaw from receiving the stimulus for growth.
Disorders during sleep: constant sleeping on one side or on a pillow that is too high.
