What is a CT scan of the teeth and jaw?

Computed tomography (CT) has become a real breakthrough in modern dentistry, opening up new possibilities for diagnostics and treatment planning. Thanks to three-dimensional images, the dentist receives the most accurate and detailed information about the condition of the teeth, bone tissues, and adjacent structures.

Computed tomography is not just a 3D image, but a tool that provides a complete panoramic view of the oral cavity, which cannot be obtained using conventional X-ray methods.

This method allows for a detailed examination of each tooth in various projections: frontal, at an angle, or tilted. The doctor can see the location of all teeth, even those that have not erupted, evaluate the condition of bone tissue, determine the position of root canals and bite, as well as detect early stages of caries and evaluate adjacent structures, including the maxillary sinuses.

Computed tomography is not just a 3D image, but a tool that provides a complete panoramic view of the oral cavity, which cannot be obtained using conventional X-ray methods.

Symptoms and signs

Acute pain or discomfort, the cause of which a conventional X-ray did not reveal.

Swelling, fistulas, or signs of bone tissue inflammation.

Preparation for complex intervention: implantation or wisdom tooth extraction.

These signs indicate the need for a CT scan, as standard images do not provide a complete picture. 3D diagnostics allow for the detection of hidden centers of infection and the evaluation of the condition of the canals, minimizing risks during treatment.
